Aw, we were really hoping for a lot of entries to our Rave the Roof contest, but it looks liks school crushed the dreams of many people who intended to enter. Thank you for having the hope to complete entries, even though it didn't work out that way for many of you However, we DO have three fantastic entries, and although DJ and myself are judging this one, I'd like you to have the opportunity to see the entries because they are so fabulous:

Moving on to the New Contest!
Now, sometimes a boy just wants to have fun and is only interested in dating and fooling around and living life while he’s still young, but doesn’t every little boy dream of finding that special someone? To find their head-over-heels love of their life? When the two destined lovers’ paths coincide, more happens than just love and happiness. There’s that need to feel familial, to live up to that “happily ever after” standard. This holiday season, it’s time to bring the beau home to meet the parents!

Meet the Family Contest
Start Date: November 05, 2009
End Date: December 31, 2009

Requirements:
1. You must have a gay boy couple, because it's yaoi, obviously.
2. You must have parent(s) of one or both boys in whatever scene you are depicting.
3. Set your scene around a holiday. It can be anything, really. Your boys want to show off their love for each other on Valentine's? Perhaps one is Irish and would like to show his heritage on St. Patrick's Day? Whatever holiday you choose is fine. Be creative!

Other mentionables:
Both stories and drawn/computerized art will be allowed. But it must be your own work.
You may use canon characters from any fandom of your choosing (just make sure to credit their original creators), one character of your own with a canon character of your fandom, or two original characters of your own.

Hello all, this is just a quick blurb to say that the contest is going to be extended until the end of October/beginning of November. So far, we only have two entries. Both are fabulous, but DJ and I would like to see more healthy competition amongst our members! Also, we hope that the extention helps get in a few entries pushed aside for school work now that some schools are having fall break. So please, if you've started or intended to enter, finish up those entries and send them on in!

Alright, here's the story why it took two months to announce and open the contest: The sexy man for the promo pic was being evil and sabatoging his own scene, so DJ simply couldn't create the visual example for you all. Fear not, even without an example (it just means you'll have to be even MORE imaginative and creative, right? ) we are still holding the contest. This time, DJ and I shall be judging this contest, so hopefully you know how to win us over.

This contest, "Rave the Roof" has more restrictions/requirements than our other contests. Hopefully you've figured out from the title that our theme is to have scandalously clad gay boys in a place where many of them enjoy and feel at home: a RAVE!

How to submit to this contest
Send a note titled "Rave the Roof Contest Submission: (either art or writing)" to YAA. Include a link to your submission in your note. Any other titled note will be disregarded and ineligible for entry.

Rules
1. You must be a member of YAA to enter this contest.
2. Only one submission per member.
3. Must be yaoi oriented.
4. Must be submitted in the fashion mentioned above.
5. The sumbission must meet all of the requirements that follow or else it will not be eligible to run in the contest.

Requirements
1. Setting must be indoors, as it is a 'rave'. If you are writing a fiction, you must at some point mention and have your characters interact at a rave party.
2. There must be lights. The more colorful, the better, it's a rave after all. So either make a spotlight dance, or write about the strobes (describing lighting can be really fun and a good challenge in writing)
3. One of your characters must be in fishnets. This can be a background character, or one of your main ones, but it must be in there.
Our ridiculous bonus 'requirement' (aka optional, but it'll make us give more thought to your piece when judging it): Pie. We'd like some kind of pie in there. It can be hidden or prominent. Much like the Bizarro Comics (by Piraro) [link] have a bunch of hidden stuff, including a slice of pie.

I know it has been a long time since I have updated the journal (over a month actually). This is just a blurb to say that YAA is not dead, but I've been very busy. HOWEVER: The creator, DJ, and myself are working on a new contest for you all. We've figured out the theme and are working on the rules as I write to you ducklings. DJ will also be creating a promotion to give you all an idea of what the contest is all about.
